BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING The largest
producers of security documents. The Bureau not only prints US bills but
they also print stamps and other security documents for government
agencies.
CIRCULATE To move from person to
person. When money is put into circulation it is passed from person to
person as people use it to buy goods and services.
CONFISCATE To seize by
authority.
COUNTERFEIT MONEY Sometimes called
funny money, counterfeit money is money that is printed by someone other
than the US Government.
MICROPRINT Print that is so small that it
cannot be seen or read with the naked eye.
NATIONAL CURRENCY Currency that is
printed by the government. It is the legal tender that may be exchanged
for goods or services.
SECRET SERVICE The Secret Service was
created in 1865 to investigate the counterfeiting of money. Today, they
also investigate credit card fraud, computer fraud, telecommunications
fraud, check and bond forgeries, money laundering, telemarketing fraud,
and bank fraud.
